Plot : Directed by Stephen Daldry, The Reader is a romantic drama set in the post WWII era in Germany. Teenager Michael Berg (Ralph Fiennes), falls ill and is helped by a lady who is twice his age named Hanna (Kate Winslet). After recovering from his illness, Michael seeks out Hanna to thank her but the two end up having a secret but passionate affair. As their romance flourishes, Michael impresses Hanna by reading to her from classics of literature after he learns that she loves being read to. However, despite their strong bonding, Hanna suddenly disappears one day leaving Michael heartbroken and confused. Eight years later, when Michael is studying law, he meets Hanna again but as a defendant in the courtroom. As Hanna’s past is reveled, a deep secret is uncovered which will deeply effect the lives of both the former lovers.
